In the north of Brandenburg lies one of the last clear water lakes in Germany – the large Stechlinsee. The lake is embedded in the dense forests of Brandenburg, its shores line white beaches and bright green meadows. Its water has drinking water quality. A proof of its cleanliness is the large occurrence of vendace. This fish species reacts very sensitively to pollution and lives only in lakes with outstanding water quality. The whitefish is similar to salmon and one should definitely try a fish roll, for example in the fishery Stechlinsee Böttcher & Sohn. For the afternoon coffee we can recommend the Café Luisenhof, in whose garden it is wonderful to linger with a piece of homemade fruit cake with butter crumbles.
